Power
Systems: Modelling & AnalysisWe have extensive experience in the computer
based modelling and analysis of electrical power systems. We have carried this
work out in a number of sectors including oil and gas, public and private electricity
networks, large scale power stations, data centres and a wide range of commercial
and industrial processes. This has included modelling of conventional electrical
power systems (coal, nuclear, CCGT) and also detailed work to understand the impact
of low carbon generation (CHP) and renewable energy schemes (wind farms, bioenergy,
tidal power). Work has been carried out using a wide range of phasor based
analysis software packages. The following types of studies have been carried out: •
Power flow and voltage control • Fault studies to IEC and IEEE standards •
Protection scheme analysis and settings • Arc flash hazard analysis •
Earthing system design • Power Quality including harmonic assessment •
Transient analysis of electrical machines (induction and synchronous motors, •
wind turbine induction generators, gas and steam turbine generators) • Power
system stability Use has been made of Electro-Magnetic Transient simulation
Packages (EMTP) for investigating protection relay dynamic performance.
